OIL YOUR SHREDDER!

Basically, there is not much else to it.

Where do I need to oil?  The cutting heads. 

Why do I need to oil?  Because the cutting heads will stay sharp longer and will operate better.  Our shredder heads are engineered so closely to provide such a fine, clean cut that the oil will help lower friction and wear.

How often do I oil my shredder?  There are different thoughts on this.  One is too oil it every time you need to empty the container.  Another theory follows the rule of once every two weeks.  Personally, I recommend following whatever schedule you can REMEMBER on a regular basis.  In other words, whatever schedule you will not forget.

How much oil each time?  It's just like oiling a shaver or hair clipper.  Just run a bead of oil along length and then run the machine both directions for a few seconds to distribute the oil.

Where do I get shredder oil?   Well, your first bottle is on us!  Indoff shredders, even the smallest one, ship with a bottle included to get you started.  I do not know of any other company that does that for you.  After that, you can get replacement pints or gallons of Shredder Oil in our online catalog under Accessories.

This is a hassle.  I don't want to mess with it.  If your office is too busy and no one has the time to remember to oil your shredder reliably, there is one other option.  On our larger departmental and industrial shredders, we offer a accessory that attaches to your shredder and oils it for you!  It holds a large quantity of oil and it knows when and how much to oil.  Better yet, adding this to your shredder on your initial purchase will lengthen the warranty of your shredder.
