Why buy an HSM Shredder?

Because quality counts; that's why.

In my years selling office supplies and equipment, there is a hard fact I want to share with you. I have had no other single item returned defective more often than shredders. We used to sell only GBC and Fellowes shredders, but most of them are made in China and just not up to fulfilling the promises they make on paper in their specifications.

Many of our school customers would spend $500 or more on what they thought was a very high-end, high-capacity shredder, only to have it quit inside of 3 months. Granted both companies, GBC especially, were quite good about standing up for their products and sending replacements, but wouldn't you rather have a shredder that didn't quit at all? Down-time without a shredder is a hassle and a potential security risk if sensitive documents do not get destroyed in a timely manner.

Since that time, Indoff has now turned to a company we feel makes the best engineered shredders on the market: HSM Shredders. All of their shredders are designed and engineered in Germany. (Think BMW, Mercedes, Porsche) Most of them are also made in Germany with a few models manufactured in California.

HSM Shredders may appear to cost a bit more up front than a "competitive" shredder, but their really is no comparison in quality. I am so much more comfortable now selling these shredders to my local customers. They know me and trust me and when I tell them that our Indoff shredders are just better, they always choose quality over the cheapest available option.

A key piece of Oregon's identity theft law takes effect Jan. 1, 2008. This includes a number of measures such as designating one or more of your employees to coordinate a security program; assessing your information processing, transmission, and storage risks; and detecting, preventing, and responding to computerized intrusions.

Internal Personnel Should Not be Responsible To Destroy Certain Information.

Common sense dictates that payroll information and materials that involve labor relations or legal affairs, should not be entrusted to lower level employees for destruction. But, beyond that, competition sensitive information is best protected from them as well. It has been established, time and again, that employees are the most likely to realize the value of certain information to competitors. And, lower wage employees often have the economic incentive to capitalize on their access to it. The only acceptable alternatives are to have the materials destroyed under the supervision of upper management or by a carefully selected, high security service.

~ taken from "The Risk Management Series", published by the NAID (National Association for Information Destruction).
